March 2013: Audio Drift No.1: launch event

08/03/2013

Saturday 23rd March 2013, 3-5pm
Meet at Cardoss Primary School

We here at The Invisible College invite you to join our team for a unique walking-and-listening event in the heart of Kilmahew woods. The starting point for this atmospheric, social experience is Cardross Primary School (G82 5PN), where there is limited parking available in the playground. Participants should gather from 2.30pm, for a 3pm walked departure.

Kilmahew Audio Drift No.1 is a sound work designed to be listened to on a portable MP3 player (such as ipod or smartphone) whilst walking around the former Kilmahew estate. The drift was produced in 2012 by Michael Gallagher, working with volunteers from the local Heritage and Landscape & Conservation Groups. It mixes together sound recordings and stories about the past, present and possible future of Kilmahew/St Peter’s.

Before the event you will need to download the audio drift to your MP3 player. Don’t worry, this is easy! You can access instructions and the Audio Drift file online here:www.theinvisiblecollege.org.uk/AudioDrifts.

If you have any problems downloading please email Michael on Michael.Gallagher@glasgow.ac.uk.

If you do not own an MP3 player and would still like to participate this may be possible. A limited supply of players and headphone sets will be available to borrow on the day. More information about the Audio Drift is available by downloading the ‘Frequently Asked Questions’:
Audio Drift FAQ’s (pdf 82kb)

The event will go ahead whatever the weather, so if you wish to join us, please wear weatherproof clothing and sensible footwear. Wellies or walking boots are best as Kilmahew is very muddy. Post-drift biscuits will be served in the Kilmahew Productive Garden at 4.30pm; please bring a flask of tea or coffee to go with them.
