The Diggers, afternoon activity on 9th June 2012

Nine 1m x 1m squares were excavated across Kilmahew to reveal older surfaces. (read images left to right)

1. tarmac of former car park below seminary

2. clay beside the Kilmahew Burn

3. beside the steps at what was once the entrance to Kilmahew House

4. the foundations of Kilmahew House in what was once the conservatory, with fragments of tile

5. tiled floor where a corridor once linked Kilmahew House and seminary kitchen block

6. tiles and concrete in kitchen block

7. slag and ash on the surface of the former tennis courts

8. greenhouse with stone floor and pieces of metalwork

9. stony surface on the bridge to the east of the walled garden
